Praia a Mare,
City of Dino Island
Praia a Mare is one of the twenty-two municipalities that make up the enchanting Riviera dei Cedri, stretching along the Tyrrhenian coast of the Cosenza province. This 80-kilometer stretch embraces the Calabria region known as the Alto Tirreno Calabrese, encompassing various slopes of the majestic Pollino National Park, the largest in Europe.
The name “Riviera dei Cedri” originates from the widespread cultivation of citron, which once covered the valleys with lush greenery. This precious citrus fruit, with ancient roots and celebrated in the Bible as “the fruit of the most beautiful tree,” finds ideal conditions in a mild and temperate climate, with little wind and minimal temperature fluctuations—conditions present in this corner of Calabria that represents its natural habitat.
Praia a Mare’s coastline stands out for its wild beauty, featuring fine dark sandy beaches, pebbled stretches, rugged cliffs, and seabeds teeming with marine life, inhabited by gorgonians, starfish, and numerous fish species.

HISTORY
“A land inhabited since the Upper Paleolithic. From 35,000 to 10,000 years before Christ, and throughout the Roman era, various groups settled in this area. A cradle that holds the secrets of time and history, hidden among ancient rocks and a mythological sea. A crossroads of influences between East and West, which gave birth to a rich artistic and cultural heritage — full of charm and inspiration.”
OUR MISSION
Città di Praia a Mare is an independent territorial marketing project.
Since 2020, driven by our love for our land, we have been offering digital solutions to encourage more people to discover Praia a Mare and experience it fully.
We firmly believe that beauty can become wonder when told in the right way. That’s why, for years, we’ve been striving to spread our passion for the things that surround us.
We grew up in front of a crystal-clear sea, breathing pure air 365 days a year, in the shadow of a unique island. We are convinced that to be worthy of the beauty we’ve received, we need passion, commitment, care, and imagination. We want our land to resemble more and more the one we’ve dreamed of growing up, and this is our contribution.
Città di Praia a Mare is a love story. Come and fall in love!
